SOCIAL JUSTICE / EQUITY STATEMENT

I am committed to creating an environment that is welcoming, respectful, equitable, diverse, usable and inclusive. I recognize the history of oppression, inequity, and structural discrimination that exists in health care, government and access to resources on a local, state and national context and work hard to take ownership of my own privileges, biases, and intersecting identities. I invite conversations around identity into the counseling room. I aim to engage in these conversations owning my own identities, owning my privilege, with open curiosity, cultural humility, and without getting defensive.  I understand that my role as a counselor includes also being an advocate. I understand this to mean it matters how I show up in the world. I use my privilege and voice to support minoritized and oppressed identities, I understand that I must continue to learn, continue to grow, continue to challenge myself.
